FIRE IN THE SKY
I took this photo on Saturday night. Saturday turned out to be a pretty great day here in Maryland. It started off a little iffy - rain, sun, rain, sun - but at least it was warm. We opened up the windows and let some fresh air in. I just can't get over how gorgeous the sky was while the sun was setting. It was so orange that it looked so fiery. Too bad that the same Mother Nature that made this sky also blew in a cold front. Today it was in the 50s again...boo hoo.
FIELD OF DREAMS
Also, on Saturday, and during the rain, sun, rain, sun part, we had baseball practice. Even though we're talking about 7 and 8 year olds here, they're pretty serious about it all. Unfortunately, the rain that we had on Friday night drenched the ball fields so that anything with dirt was a mud pit. The guys practiced and had a little practice game against another team in the outfield. What's really fun about all of this is watching a gaggle of little boys interact and have fun. They are so funny in what they say and do when they're together...you've just gotta laugh. What's not so funny is that we had another practice game tonight. We started at 5:30 and went until 8:00 and it was freezing outside!! Not to mention that we didn't really have any dads to be assistant coaches tonight and the moms don't really know what to do to help coach. Lemme tell ya...it's not easy to get a little kid hooked up into all of that catcher's gear, get their helmets on, make sure they don't swing the bat into each other, or pull them down from climbing the backstop! Heck, I was on the swim team...I'm not prepared for all of this...ha!
One other giggle for ya...we were designated the snack/drink bringers for this past Saturday's game. Bill just doesn't understand why the kids even need a snack or drink, but I digress...since our game was at 9am we brought Dunkin Donuts and juice. After the kids all got their snacks we had about 7 donuts left over. Unfortunately, I set them on top of the car when we were getting in to leave. Ooopsie...7 donuts in the parking lot with street grit all over them. Oh dear...and this was after the part where we discovered that we forgot the little boy's glove and Bill had to go home again in get it. What a day!
