Just giving some new stamps a try...my Memory Box Co. penguins and a few new stamps from A Muse. (Can you believe that A Muse is coming out with MORE new stamps this Wednesday ...STOP THE MADNESS! No...don't stop...I can always use more stamps. Maybe the little boy can get a golf scholarship to college or something like that...ha!)
I saw Shelli Gardner do this cool technique on DIY Scrapbooking the other day...it's on the left card. The crinkled strip of paper reminds me of the brown ribbon in the Flirty ribbon pack from the SU! Winter Mini catalog. To make it you run a strip of cardstock through the crimper - the short end goes in first. Then you pull it across a pencil (like you would do to curling ribbon) a few times until the paper begins to split at the edges. Pull the two pieces apart and you have two 'sueded' strips - set one aside to use later. To use the strip on your card, apply a wide swath of adhesive (I used Mono) to where you'll be placing the strip. Start at the top of that area and adhere the end of the strip...slowly push the paper into itself to crinkle the strip as you adhere it to the card front. NOTE: Make sure that your strip is long enough...you're doing a lot of crinkling and that will quickly shorten the strip. You can always trim it later. Voila! You've got this neat 'ribbon' type embellishment. Think of the possibilities...colors, patterned papers, etc.
