I'm trying to challenge myself with these sketches each week....something new and different, right? I love this week's sketch from Card Positioing Systems. I like that it's a nice square size and the circles at the bottom really appealed to me. So here's my take on it...
For this one, I started with the card base first and picked out my stamps after that. Not my normal way of doing things but this gorgeous Sonoma Collection paper by Scenic Route called to me. I think it's my fave paper right now...the big flowers and the deep colors are so yummy. And the coordinating papers are fab too. I made my card into matchbook design that opens just above the button strip. The buttons are from Creative Imaginations (brown) and Fancy Pants (cranberry). After all of that was together, I went on the hunt for stamps.
I have this thing for all of those owl images that have been out for a while now. I've found myself buying them up but hadn't really used them yet. This fun guy is from Papertrey Ink - the set with all of the owl parts so you can customize him to your liking. His big ole eyes are so funny! The set has a bunch of great owl sentiments too. The branch is actually from an owl set from Sassafras Lass. I didn't end up using an owl from there this time but liked the size of the branch for this oval central image. Everything's colored with the Copics, as usual, and I added these great paper flowers from Paper Source over each of the stamped flower on the branch...gives it some dimension.
On the inside, I stamped "Happy Mother's Day" with a stamp from Paper Source. Yea...Mother's Day cards all done...now I just have to get 'em in the mail! Hoot Hoot!
