GET WELL WISHES {wsd}

Still working with one of the new ANNA WIGHT sets from WHIPPER SNAPPER...BUTTERFLY KISSES.  As you can see, it does have a few cute images but I am also loving the sentiments.  I really can't resist a mixture of different fonts.  It's artwork for the eye AND the brain.  So this card really features the wording rather than the images from the set.

I stamped "Get Well Wishes" on this great FRAMED GREETINGS Die-namics die cut from MY FAVORITE THINGS.  I really like the swirly shape.  And then I embellished that central sentiment with felt flowers made from the MFT ROLLED FLOWER die.  I hand cut the leaves.  The large felt zig-zag is cut using the MFT JUMBO RIC-RAC die.  And lastly I added a glitter covered vellum butterfly cut using the PTI butterfly die.  The funky and colorful patterned papers are all from a new collection called GREENHOUSE GALA from Stampin' Up!

G IS FOR GNOME {sfytt}

Okay, so here's my card for this week's SFYTT, shown in the post below, and here's how I arrived at this finished card...

1.)  I knew I wanted to use an image from one of ANNA WIGHT'S new sets from WHIPPER SNAPPER DESIGNS and I do love this little gnome guy from the GARDEN GNOME set so that was an easy choice. 

2.)  I visited my LSS this week (I am now a disgruntled customer...but that's a whole 'nother story for another day!) and found this fun cloud paper and a matching sheet that included each letter of the alphabet with a line for filling in what each letter could stand for.  It's all by We R Memory Keepers and it's called 72 & Sunny.  I cut out just the "g" for the obvious reason.  I stamped the word "GNOME" with one of those tiny alphabet sets from SU!

3.)  Following Jen's sketch, I knew that I needed three horizontal elements on the left side of the layout.  But my dilemma was that I didn't want to cover up the cloud paper.  I chose to use the PTI cloud die and make the clouds fit that part of the sketch.  I added a tiny bit of airbrushed Copic markers (W2 and W4) to better define that bottom edge of each cloud. 

4.) Then I had in mind that I wanted to use my new Sheltering Tree & Leaf Trio Die-namics dies from MY FAVORITE THINGS.  How freakin' cute is this tree?  Are you familiar with it?  If not, well let me just tell you that it not only cuts out the little tree...it embosses the wood pattern as well!  WOW-WEEEE...I'm a faux bois lovin' girl so this had to come and live at my house, ya know! I used the little leaf die to cut two colors of felt from the Felt On The Fly shop on Etsy and added various buttons from PTI.  And then it just needed a little bird too...that's from another of Anna's sets, SWEET EXPRESSIONS.

And that's that...in a much shortened version than how the process really went...and in much less time too!  It's pretty cute though, I think.  Off to continue on with the rest of my "to-do" list today.  The neighbors are having a luau tonight so I've got to go to the store, make a pineapple cake, and figure out what I might have that's suitable to wear to a luau.  Hope you have a FAB weekend and do check out the other girls' cards today...the list was included in the post just before this one.

I MISS YOU BUNCHES {wsd new release}

And here's ANNA'S second WHIPPER SNAPPER DESIGNS new release set for the month.  It's called BUTTERFLY KISSES...the perfect set for a nice little pick-me-up note or get well soon for someone special.

I again used October Afternoon patterned papers.  I also used a new die from PTI - Spiral Notebook Page - and their ric-rac die.  It looks black here but the felt ric-rac is actually dark brown and it ties in with the dark brown layer of each of the patterned paper "pages" and a little brown zig-zag in the background paper too.  I added a teensy bit of sparkly to the flowers and butterfly with a Sakura Stardust glitter pen.

 

ESPECIALLY FOR YOU {wsd new release day!}

Today is the release date for two brand new sets from ANNA WIGHT for WHIPPER SNAPPER DESIGNS.  Anyone's who's been following along at my blog for any length of time knows that I am very partial to all of Anna's whimsical little drawings. 

I also have a thing for those garden gnomes.  I don't actually have one in my garden (maybe I should get one!) but I do have a few stamps of them.  They're cute without being cutesy...I like that.  So, how lucky am I that one of the new release sets is called GARDEN GNOME. 

I'm stuck on this bright red/turquoise color combo...or maybe it's just those two particular pieces of paper.  I love the pop of bright red.  This time I framed them in black and added a more neutral background.  All of the patterned papers are from October Afternoon.  I also used MFT's Open Scallop Border Die-namics die and some PTI felt and buttons.  Some TCP linen twine and KI ribbon finished it off.

ENJOY THE LITTLE THINGS {sfytt}

Welcome to a whole new month of Saturday SKETCHES FOR YOU TO TRY!  I love it when JEN sends the new sketches.  It's an email full of inspiration.  And most of the time, it's a free pass to stamp with whatever stamps, papers, and embellishments that I choose...it's stamping just for the fun of it.  That's very freeing...opens up the creative juices, don'tcha know!

This week I chose these adorable ANNA WIGHT images from WHIPPER SNAPPER DESIGNS.  I love the homey feel of the images AND the vintage feel of these October Afternoon papers.  In fact, I'm pretty much diggin' everything about this card.  It just all appeals to me...cute images, fun papers, big ole felt ric-rac, ribbon, a button, and sewing...yippee!  This chicken and the bowl of eggs are included in the CRAZY FOR CHICKENS set.  The tiny sentiment is in the LOVE AT HOME sentiment set.  Anna's got something for any and all occasions.  That girl is a wealth of creativity!

SWIMMIN' BY TO SAY HI! {sfytt}

Can you tell that I have summer on the mind?  Anything having to do with WATER is a good thing right now cuz it's HOT, HOT, HOT here in Maryland!  So here's my card for this week's SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY.  I knew that I wanted to use this set, SWIMMIN' BY, from ANNA WIGHT for WHIPPER SNAPPER DESIGNS.  In my hunt for matching papers I came across a pad by Anna Griffin in my stash.  It's a very eclectic combination of patterns...shells, cross-hatching, burlap...so I went with it.  I'm likin' how it turned out too. 

As usual, Copic markers and the airbrush and Nestabilities dies are my go-to tools.  I also used an oldie but a goodie - Twinkling H2Os on the little fish in the background of the central image.  Love that stuff!  And I went a little crazy with the buttons but they were all so pretty that I couldn't resist the colors.  Twine and buttons are from PTI.  I added a little bit of SU! Crystal Effects on the windows of the sub - and subsequently put my hand or finger in it while it was trying to dry..3 times!  Takes a while to dry, dontcha know.

SUNNYSIDE UP

Wouldn't it be nice if all of your days DID start off SUNNYSIDE UP?!  Here's another card using Anna Wight's new SUNNYSIDE UP set from WHIPPER SNAPPER DESIGNS.  Can you believe that this has taken me most of the day?  Where's the mojo?!  It's in SLO-MO, that's where!

Patterned papers here are in the Thrift Shop pad from October Afternoon - my new fave.  They remind me of a vintage picnic.  I also used Spellbinder's Nestabilities petite oval and petite scalloped oval dies, PTI buttons and twine, and, as usual, my Copic markers and airbrush.  I also added some antique book page...that always adds texture and interest.  So fun!

YOU LOOK MOO-VELOUS {sfytt}

You do...YOU DO LOOK MOO-VELOUS!  I just love this cute little cow in a dress from ANNA WIGHT'S newest WHIPPER SNAPPER set, PARTY ANIMAL.  As soon as I saw her this little "mirror" idea came to mind.  I'm not sure that my execution was exactly as planned...but she's still cute as can be. 

My card follows JEN's SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY for this week.  I used De-Lovely patterned papers from Cosmo Cricket...bright and fun and summery!  And in addition to the mirror idea, I have been dying to try this little felt rose idea that I saw on Betsy Veldman's blog.  I'm thinkin' that it might be a tad much for this card but here it is anyway.  {It's really easy and adorable so I'm still gonna make some more!}  I have a feeling that this is a sentiment that Anna has thought of before but I was too lazy to look through my sets this morning so I just hand wrote it.

JUST "CHICKEN" IN ON YOU!

And here's my second card for today's WHIPPER SNAPPER DESIGNS new release...This card uses the SUNNYSIDE UP set.  Click on the set image in my previous post to see all of the images that are included in the set.

I bought these Jillibean Soup Chicken Noodle papers a while back knowing that at some point ANNA would have a chicken that I could use them with...and I was right!  The little barn scene is from a sheet of 12x12 that repeats that pattern but I just cut out one of the scenes.  And the other piece is all corn stalks. 

I'm still working on my "black" hair with the Copics.  Now that I see this online I think I should have blended the darkest dray up just a little farther on her ponies.  She's sort of a little gray haired chickie here...still cute though!

REAL PARTY ANIMALS {Whipper Snapper Release Day!}

Today's the day for a brand new ANNA WIGHT stamp set release at WHIPPER SNAPPER DESIGNS.  Once again, I'm thrilled to be a part of the WSD featured design team.  I just love Anna's adorable and whimsical images!  There are two new sets:  PARTY ANIMAL and SUNNYSIDE UP.  You can click on either image to make them larger...

I love that you can use images from Anna's previous sets and mix and match everything to create a scene.  So, here's my first card for today.  Who wouldn't want to party it up with the barnyard gang, right?!  Obviously, the animals, party hat, and sentiment are in the PARTY ANIMAL set.  The skate board is in Anna's HIS FAVORITE THINGS set.
