THE CAT'S PAJAMAS - NEW RELEASE BLOG HOP {tcp tuesday #187 - TECHNIQUE} }

Yea baby!  NEW RELEASE DAY IS FINALLY HERE!  And, as usual, it's on a Tuesday and that means that we also have a TCP TUESDAY CHALLENGE for you all.  BUT, we're also BLOG HOPPING along to celebrate our Winter new release.  Hopefully you started at JULIE'S BLOG, as she's our hipster hostess with the mostess this week.  Let's see what we have here...

Our technique challenge this week was to create shiny embellishments for your holiday card. Use glitter, glossy accents or whatevs!  I chose shimmery paper for the new SNOWFLAKE LACE PAPER CUTUPS die along with glitter on bunny's hat and Crystal Effects on his candy cane.  Don't you just love him?!  He's from our new RAISING CANE set...available today!  I teamed him up with bright non-traditional patterned papers in the Holiday Cheer pad from PTI.  Ribbon and tiny rhinestones complete the look.

J*LLY H*LIDAY...{tcp sneaky peek - day 7}

The time for brand new stamps and dies is almost here!  Hoooray!  Here's my last post for SNEAKY PEEK WEEK from THE CAT'S PAJAMAS. Tomorrow, all will be available so that you can shop til your heart's content...and Alma has an additional surprise in store as well!

This awesome new set is called J*LLY H*LIDAY.  And, yes, those asterisks are supposed to be there.  That's because this set includes fun holiday icons that can be inserted into traditional holiday words and sayings.  Obviously, I'm using SNOW here and I filled the emply space with a snowflake from the new SNOWFLAKE LACE PAPER CUTUPS die.  Centered in the middle of my card is a fun little envelope created with the GIFT CARD ENVIE CUTUPS die.  I cut the flap edge twice so that I could add a coordinating little detail in a different patterend paper.  I added a layer shape from the CIRCUS PANELS CUTUPS for my highlighted word.  Across the bottom I used the RIBBON SLIDE and the CIRCUS BORDER CUTUPS dies to make a decorative border.  CRANBERRY SEAM BINDING RIBBON (also available from The Cat's Pajamas), twine, pearls, rhinestones and buttons finish it all off.  All of my patterned papers are in the Echo Park Season's Greetings paper pad.

PEEKING...{tcp sneaky peek - day 5}

We're offically in the holiday shopping frenzy now!  Nobody knows that better than PJ with his big ole wrapped box.  NO PEEKING...NO PEEKING...NOOOO PEEKING, little ones...and big ones too!  PJ makes his latest appearance in this oh-so-cute PEEKING set - just in time for CHRISTMAS.

And what would show him off better than ALMA's beautiful and ingenius SNOWFLAKE LACE PAPER CUTUPS die.  It's sorta like a doily but what makes it even better is that the punched shapes are actually usuable...the positive and negative parts...and that makes this die extra versatile!  I teamed the stamped image and the wonderful die-cut shape up with fun patterned papers from the Season's Greetings pad by Echo Park and some wide striped grosgrain ribbon from SU!  PJ's "Absolutely No Peeking" sign on a Tim Holtz metal pick wrap it up!

FREEZIN' SEASON...{tcp sneaky peek - day 4}

We're not quite FREEZIN' but it 'tis the SEASON, right?  Well, FREEZIN' SEASON is the name for our day 4 sneaky peek set from THE CAT'S PAJAMAS.  How unbelievably cute is our bunny's snowbunny?!  I love it!

For this one, I used various paper from the 12 Days of Christmas pad by My Mind's Eye.  I stamped the snowflakes from this new set on the background paper using VersaMark ink and then embossed with an old standby - Irridescent Ice embossing powder from SU!  I used the CLOUD BORDER CUTUPS die, cut from felt, as snow to ground my stamped image.  I also used the CIRCUS BORDER CUTUPS die along with snowflake cutouts from the SNOWFLAKE LACE PAPER CUTUPS die.  HOLIDAY DIVINE TWINE - available at The Cat's Pajamas - buttons and a bell complete the look.

BEST FISHES...{tcp sneaky peek - day 3}

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, CRAFTY PEOPLE!  I'm checking in with our new BEST FISHES set on day 3 of sneaky peek week from THE CAT'S PAJAMAS!  Are you putting your list together?  Tomorrow's Black Friday, don'cha know!  (I think I'll hibernate, myself!)

How about this oh-so-sweet penguin and his smilin' fish?  He's definitely going into my fave pile!  And I love that he's big enough for perfect paper piecing AND coloring too.  These fun patterned paper are from the Mistletoe & Pear pack from Basic Grey.  (It's an oldie from my Christmas paper box.)  I love that it has big and small patterns and plaid too!

I stamped and pieced penguin on a Wonky Rectangle Nestabilities cutout.  I also used the new RIBBON SLIDE CUTUPS DIE and the CIRCUS PANELS CUTUPS die set for the tag.  The CRANBERRY SEAM BINDING RIBBON is also a new addition to the TCP store!  Some shimmery paper snowflakes - from the SNOWFLAKE LACE PAPER CUTUPS die - a button, silver twine, and a sparkly silver snowflake from Recollections finish it off.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, HONEY...{tcp sneaky peek - day 2}

Welcome to day 2 of sneaky peeks for THE CAT'S PAJAMAS' new WINTER COLLECTION!  Today's adorable set is called MERRY CHRISTMAS, HONEY.  This little bear could woo Winnie the Pooh in a heartbeat with all of that honey under the tree!

I chose the Christmas Eve Chowder pad from Jillibean Soup - bright non-christmas-y colors are right up my alley...I love non-traditional for holidays.  I also used the new RIBBON SLIDE CUTUPS die along with the BIG SCALLOP and CIRCUS PANEL CUTUPS.  I added one of the diecut snowflakes from the new SNOWFLAKE LACE PAPER CUTUPS die as well as bright grosgrain ribbon, twine, a button, and a tiny jingle bell.

SNOW DAY...{tcp sneaky peek - day 1}

YUP...IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN!  AND...just in time for your holiday shopping.  I'm talkin' shopping for those other wonderful stampers in your life AND, hey, maybe just for YOU as well.  You know, I'm all about the "one-for-you-one-for-me" shopping plan!  It's DAY ONE OF SNEAKY PEEK WEEK with THE CAT'S PAJAMAS.

ALMA has come up with seven spiffy new stamp sets and three amazing new CUTUPS dies.  I know that I say it each an every release but these truly are MUST HAVE items!  First up is the SNOW DAY set.  The bunny's back and ready for a day of outdoor fun...snowball fight style!!

I used patterned paper from the ECHO PARK Holly Jolly Christmas paper pad.  Notice the fun new CRANBERRY SEAM BINDING RIBBON at the bottom?  Well that's threaded through die cut slots made with our new RIBBON SLIDE CUTUPS die.  It truly is genius!  I also used the APRON BORDER, the CIRCUS PANELS, and the SNOWFLAKE CUTUPS dies.  A tiny snowflake from our new SNOWFLAKE LACE PAPER CUTUPS die and awesome HOLIDAY DIVINE TWINE tie it up.

TCP TUESDAY #186 - INSPIRATION CHALLENGE

Today we've got brand new SNEAKY PEEKS for you here with THE CAT'S PAJAMAS.  But, before we get on to all of that stampin' goodness, I'm popping in with my card for this week's INSPIRATION CHALLENGE from JEN.  What will you come up with using the collage of images below?!

Don't you just love all of that "white-on-white" and the cozy knitting, oooh, and the Eiffel Tower...what's not to like, right?!  Well I went with that "white-on-white" for my creation this week.  I added swirly ICING BORDER CUTUPS die-cuts to a sheet of shimmery white paper for the knitted effect.  It's hard to see here but I did use our new GIFT CARD ENVIE CUTUPS die to hold PJ (from the HAPPY CAMPER set) and my holiday doo-dads.  I wrapped it all up with wide satin ribbon from Paper Source, a sentiment from the A BEARY GOOD YEAR set, a SNOWFLAKE CUTUPS die cut from THIN WOOD VENEER and a button and twine.  Oh, and one more new little tidbit...see PJ's tiny snowflake?  That's part of an innovative must have new die - the SNOWFLAKE LACE PAPER CUTUPS die.

TCP TUESDAY #185 - SKETCH CHALLENGE

Hi Gang!  I'm up once again with a new SKETCH CHALLENGE for TCP TUESDAY #185 with THE CAT'S PAJAMAS. 

So...remember that the sketch is meant to inspire and spark your creative juices flowing.  And most of the time I really do try and take the sketch very literally.  I'm weird like that cuz I know so many people who can really "see" the sketch in so many different ways than I had originally in my head.  Well, that kinda happened to me this time!  I not only turned the sketch onto it's side but I then switched the main element from the right to the left and then I didn't use the horizontal (in my case vertical) piece at all.  That can happen, stampers...just go with it, I guess!

I used purty patterned papers in the Sidewalks pad from October Afternoon along with one of my fave TCP images - bunny in the cute little putt putt plane from the TAKEOFF set.  I also used the CLOUD BORDER CUTUPS DIE where the filmstrip element is in the sketch.  A little banner mimicing the background paper and a notched sentiment finish it off.
