Tomorrow is my Godchild's birthday and in my usual always-late-birthday-gift-giver form I just sat down to make her card today. I am notoriously horrible at birthdays. I can remember my immediate family - at least the dates - but that's about it. I think it runs in my side of the family because we all do it. We like to say it makes the celebration last longer when you get your gift weeks after your birthday. Anybody out there with me? No? Oh well, I try...
I've had some new stamps from MY FAVORITE THINGS sitting on my table for a while so I chose this cutie-patootie ALL STAR A LA MODE set to work with. This gal is perfect for Erin because she's a terrific teenager and this girl is not only cute but cool too! I based my card on this week's MFT WEDNESDAY SKETCH CHALLENGE #13.
As for supplies, I can't get enough of the new EASY ROSETTE and GRASS CUTUPS die from THE CAT'S PAJAMAS and incorporated them here. I used my favorite cloud paper from October Afternoon. The pink polka-dot is OA too. The green is Cosmo Cricket and the text background paper is from SU! I tried to make my bottom layers a little "scrappy" and added a piece of Heidi Swapp decorative tape that's been hiding in my drawer. A button, some brads and delish twine from The Twinery finish it off. Oh, and I finished the inside as well. The MFT gals are the queens of this stuff so I just took their lead and followed along. I don't usually finish my card insides but I do think it looks really nice...who knows, could become a habit. The inside sentiment is from A Muse.
Happy Birthday, Erin...your gift is coming!!

Love your card! The pink polka dot is so cute!

Beautiful. Your godchild will be thrilled with such a beautiful card--and so will the family. I'm like you: I just remember about the immediate family. My poor nieces and nephews don't get cards from me. One reason is I just don't have stamps for boys. Your card is truly beautiful.

I just left some love over at SCS, but I had to pop over here and tell you again how much I LOVE this card! Every detail is perfect! I swear I could look at your cards all day long! :)

What a CUTE card! I like the background with the die-cut sky; I wouldn't have thought to do it that way. The layers of grass look cool1 I like the way you carried your pink polka dots throughout, as well. Very nice! :)

Well aren't you just a thrifty little stamper using the negetive 'scrap' for the grass!! I love it!! I can hardly wait for the rosette die- you made that sentiment stand out perfect with it!! I love this card and so will Erin!!!

Leigh, this is ADORABLE. and you are so not alone on the late-ness. I have my grandmother's CHRISTMAS present here on my desk, sitting next to her birthday present. Yikes!
