TCP TUESDAY #124 - Sketch Challenge

Hey there CAT'S PAJAMAS fans!  We're back to a turn for the SKETCH CHALLENGE again and that means that I am your Hipster Hostess with the Mostess.  Yeah me! So, I've worked up what I hope will be a fun and interesting layout for everyone.  Don't forget that you can turn the sketch on it's side or upside down and it'll look completely different.

As for my card, I didn't quite get it done for this posting but I'm hoping to add it in the morning.  I've got it all planned out in my head but my sore shoulder is not cooperating and wants a little more time off.  Gonna take my meds and hopefully I'll be a whole new stamper in the morning! Ah...finished!  This is one heck of a crazy card.  It's one of those that just "got away" from me.  I think I was wooed by a new Carolyn Gavin paper pad by K&Co.  I used the momma hippo and sentiment from the AND BABY MAKES set.  I added a little felt flower and rope tail for each in place of the buttons on the sketch and a little pink rhinestone for each sentiment banner finishes it all off.

Squeaking in under the wire with my card for this week's SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY.  I pulled a muscle in my back on Monday and ended up going to the ER on Thursday.  Long story short, I'm feeling much better this morning but that's due to some "good drugs", know what I mean?!  But I also feel a little loopy so forgive me if typos and weird statements end up here in this post...ha!

This sketch sorta scared me...I'm so not good at free form/asymmetrical layouts.  I chose another PURE INNOCENCE set called MVP.  I just loved this little guy and the cheerleader that came out in the same release from MY FAVORITE THINGS a little while back.  So cute!

The patterned papers hare are from OCTOBER AFTERNOON (graph/stripes) and COSMO CRICKET (polka-dots).  All is colored up with Copics and I added a teensy bit of airbrushing to the circle frame layer.  I used the tumbling footballs to represent the circles in JEN's sketch.  He's a very colorful football dude...not sure that these colors would work in the NFL or NCAA...maybe in the powder puff league though!

FLOWERY LITTLE ANGEL {mft wsc}

Hey, guess what?!  I am now a member of the Wednesday Sketch Club design team at MY FAVORITE THINGS.  I'm very excited to be a small part of this great company and their amazing DT.  So, what does this mean?  Well, it means that I'll be posting a card each Wednesday that'll feature a pre-determined theme.  I actually officially start on September 1st but I'm jumping in a little early to show you a little something in this week's theme:  FLORAL FANTASY! Create a card or project featuring, duh, FLOWERS!

 

I chose this oh-so-sweet PURE INNOCENCE LITTLE ANGEL image as my focal point.  I mean, really, could she be ANY cuter?!  I don't think so!  I paper pieced her dress with Basic Grey Kioshi collection patterned paper.  In fact, all of the patterned papers here are from that same great pad.  I really like the background piece with the spray of muted-color flowers....so pretty.  I added big purple flowers, cut using the MFT DIE-NAMICS FLOWER TRIO & LEAF TRIO dies.  I layered them and curled the egdes and added button centers for lots of depth.

I am a freak for Halloween!  Just love it...don't know why...but I do.  It's my feeling that you can never have ENOUGH Halloween decoration, Halloween paper, Halloween stamps, Halloween embellishments...just HALLOWEEN!  It's all good!  So here's PJ, from the A BEARY GOOD YEAR all-occasion set, doing some Trick or Treating on a spooky Halloween night.  The haunted house and bat are a Sizzix Originals die cut.  All of the patterned papers are in the Boo To You Collection from My Mind's Eye.  My special artistic assistant (the little boy) came along and instructed me to add the moon, the spider, and the spider webs at the last minute and I think they were all perfect additions.

As for my card, I chose to use a digital image called CHIBI PUNK BOY.  He's awesome, right?!  I really dug around in the paper stash for just the perfect patterns.  I knew that, in there somewhere, was something with guitars.  (I actually found a few pieces of rockin' paper...have to make sure to use them on something soon!)  I'll include my supply list below if you wanna know exactly what I used.  I also turned the sketch 90 degrees to the left so that I could more easily fit my central image.

BOOK FAIR {MFT Wednesday Stamp Club}

Anybody for a book fair?  I decided to give the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club challenge a try today.  The theme is "Time to hit the Books! - Think back to school, reading or books".

I purchased this American Crafts patterned paper (Abode - Oak Ave.) specifically to go with this MFT stamp set, I {HEART} BOOKS!  I do love me some books.  I read in waves, though....read constantly for a time and then don't read at all for a few weeks.  I have a whole pile - plus a bunch on my Kindle - ready for reading right now.  Gotta get down to it!

Obviously, this cute little chickie made it to the BOOK FAIR.  She's so sweet!  I added the banner made with MFT's BANNER DAY DIE-NAMICS die, some Cosmo Early Bird paper, TCP Divine Twine, Creative Imaginations buttons, and this cute little MFT alphabet.

LOOK WHO CAME TO VISIT...

Yesterday morning I was working on the computer and I had a visitor.  I should preface all of this by saying that this particular visitor could, NORMALLY, care LESS about ME.  But, I did come up here with a bowl of cereal and I think he can smell milk from a mile away.  He didn't follow me up and he arrived when the cereal was already finished but the bowl was sitting on my table.  Again...NICE NOSE!  He sat next to my chair and acted like he was going to jump to my lap and that NEVER happens.  And then he did!  And then he walked onto the computer table.  Do you think he was here to love me?  Uh, NO, he then headed for the bowl so he could lap up what was left of the milk.  I'm just gonna pretend that he was here to love me...although, now that I look at the picture, he does look a little worse for the wear.  It could be that he was avoiding the doggie.  She always wants to play with him...poor kitty.

I can relate, sorta.  I'm a child of the 60s so I'm down with it, baby.  Peace.  Love.  {Okay, I can hardly remember yesterday so it is a reach to remember that far back!}  Anyway, I wanted that "old photo" look and I think I did pretty good.  I colored everything with Copics - creating the background as one piece - airbrushing in the clouds.  And then I stamped and colored my girl separately and "popped" her up a bit.  Dug out my old deckle edged Fiskars scissors for the photo edges and dug even deeper for some Canson black photo corners.  The newsprint patterned paper is from SU!  Some vintage-y black/cream checked ribbon, buttons, and pearls finish it all off.

TCP TUESDAY #123 - Stamp Challenge

  "Let's play a drinking game and use any TCP stamp that has to do with a beverage of any kind!"

There you have it.  That's the theme for this week's TCP Tuesday stamp challenge from SUSAN, our Hipster Hostess with the Mostess.  Fun, right?!

The possibilities are truly endless for this one.  ALMA has so many fun images at THE CAT'S PAJAMAS to choose from and, ahem, a few of them include a drink of some kind...uh, quite a few of them!  Are you seeing a theme?  Need help choosing?  How about a penguin with a margarita in the Salud set, PJ with some tea in the A Cuppa set, Sprinkle in her floatie in the Fun In The Sun set, or Poochie in his lounge chair in the By The Sea set.

For my card, I really dug deep into my TCP stamp shelf for some oldies but goodies.  I chose PJ from the HAPPY CAMPER set.  I really like the size of that bear and, as you probably know from my past posts, he can be used for almost any occasion.  And then in my wood mounted I found UGA...what do you call those cups?  I don't think I've seen one in YEARS but they always crack me up.  Guess that's why I bought those - UGA, BUGA, and BOO - from Alma ages ago...had to have 'em! (TCP actually has a whole beverage category of rubber stamps on the website.)  The "Salud!" sentiment is in the SALUD set.

I used the new CUT-UPS WAVE DIE for my ocean and did a little "tearing" for the sandy island.  I ran brown paper on the PTI woodgrain impression plate through my Big Shot and then hand cut the tree trunk.  I hand cut the palm leaves too after embossing the CS with a Cuttlebug folder.  Then I added some "coconut" buttons.  The patterned papers are in the Cosmo Cricket DeLovely collection except for the blue plaid which is from October Afternoon.  TCP LINEN THREAD and a big ole PTI button finish it all off.
