TODAY IS THE DAY!  FINALLY!  We've been waiting for the day for you all to be able to hop into the camper and ease on down the road with brand new stamps from THE CAT'S PAJAMAS!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOY!

Today is Joy Kennedy's birthday!  You know Joy...over at Eclectic Paperie.  Well, a bunch of us are surprising Joy today with our birthday wishes using a brand new stamp set by OUR CRAFT LOUNGE featuring Kona the turtle made especially for ECLECTIC PAPERIE.  (Available June 1st.)  I think he's got to be one of the darn cutest images that I've seen in a while.  (Doesn't he remind you of Franklin?  Don't know Franklin?  Well if you had little kids you would!)

I'm not exactly sure what all is in the set but what I've seen is Kona on the beach, Kona surfing, Kona with his shades and his towel.  Love him!  My card to Joy uses this week's color challenge at Splitcoast - Bashful Blue, So Saffron, and Pumpkin Pie...those colors matched perfectly some paper in my stash from a DCWV glitter pad.  Very summery, indeed!

Since I was getting this image digitally, I was limited in what I could do to mask him and airbrush the sky around him.  I used the Copic airbrush and lightly spritzed around the edge of the oval...it's hard to see here but it really gives a great subtle look that makes Kona stand out even more.  Gotta love those markers!

CPS SKETCH 117 - JUST SITTING HERE STINKING

Here's a little card based on sketch number 117 at the CARD POSITIONING SYSTEMS blog.  I turned the sketch one turn to the left so that my circular elements would be at the top of the card.  I'm showing off the cute little skunk character that's included in the HAPPY CAMPER set from THE CAT'S PAJAMAS.  Don't forget to check in at TCP on Friday, May 29th, when the entire set will be available for ordering.  This awesome leafy trim and the buttons are also new additions at THE CAT'S PAJAMAS this week.  So fun!  Oh, and I almost forgot....the sentiment is on the inside and says, "Just sitting here stinking."  How "stinkin'" cute is that!?!

TCP TUESDAY #60 - Inspiration Challenge

This week's TCP Tuesday Challenge is to use this room photo from The Container Store website for your inspiration.  That really leaves it wide open, right?  Are you inspired by the colors?  The shapes?  The lines?  I went with the circles and then with the vertical lines that represent the clothes on the hanging rack.  What a fun room!  (I'm in the process of trying to figure out what to do with the little boy's room and this is giving me ideas!  Poor little boy...he's eight and his room has no paint, a yard sale headboard, and his baby dresser...yeesh!)

I'm stuck on this cute little bear from the brand new HAPPY CAMPER set from THE CAT'S PAJAMAS that will be available for ordering this coming Friday.  I bought some Koh-I-Noor Woodless Colored Pencils the other weekend at that stamp show so I gave them a try.  I'm in awe of those that have mastered the colored pencil/gamsol technique.  I've got quite a ways to go, I think.  This great paper is really all one piece from Scenic Route called Providence Scrap Strip.  I did a little sewing to make it look more like strips of patterned paper.  I didn't even need a sentiment since the paper contained fun strips of words that worked for my card.  I finished it off with a bunch of Dew Drops and Bella Baubles (I never know which since I poured them all into one container!).

I'm featuring CLARA the cow on my card.  She's part of the DOODLEFACTORY COUNTRY collection.  I matched her up with these patterned papers by SEI in their Winnie's Walls collection.  I had to dig deep into my stash to find those.  They're in the "gotta have it...um, where did those papers go?" category...ha ha!  The sentiment is from the COUNTRY #2 set of sentiments, also from SA.  My big ole button is from Creative Imaginations and I used some new Melon Berry twill ribbon and Rustic Twine by Papertrey to tie it up.

CARDS FOR HEROES

Happy Memorial Day Weekend to all!  Hopefully you're enjoying amazing weather, friends, family, and good food this weekend.  Don't forget to take at least a moment this holiday weekend to think about those in the armed forces that are protecting our freedom each and every day. 

I am honored to have been asked to participate in a blog hop this weekend with the CARDS FOR HEROES organization.  This terrific group takes time to send tons of cards to our troops - both blank cards for them to send home and cards directly to them for encouragement.  What a worthy cause!  You can learn more about CARDS FOR HEROES by visiting their website or, better yet, hopping around to the blogs included in this weekend's hop.  You'll be inspired to create AND inspired to participate as well.

I'm getting into the patriotic spirit with a little flag card using this week's sketch layout by Card Positioning Systems.  It's number 116.  I actually turned the sketch upside down since I knew that I wanted to use the SU! punch that makes it look like torn out notebook paper and I wanted that edge to be on the left of the card.  All of the fun patterned paper here is from October Afternoon.  My card features the stars and stripes image from the Vote For Me set from STORAGE UNITS, INK & MORE!  I colored it all up with the Copics and used the airbrush to add in the sky...I love the soft look that the airbrush gives...and I've finally figured out how to get it pretty evenly sprayed too.  I also used a bunch of different Nestabilities dies, the SU! scalloped edge punch, SU! star eyelets, and Papertrey ribbon.

TCP TUESDAY #59 - SKETCH CHALLENGE

Happy Tuesday!  This week we have a sketch challenge from Carole!  It's a good one too...lots of possibilities...here we go:

 

How fun is this bear?!  He's part of a brand spankin' new stamp set by Alma de la Rosa at THE CAT'S PAJAMAS.  The set is called "HAPPY CAMPER" and will be available for ordering on Friday, May 29th.  Come on...you know you want it and you haven't even see the whole thing yet!  I not only stamped the bear here but I stamped the tree - masking to make a forest - the clouds, and the sentiment too.  Starting today, be sure and check in with the other TCP design team members for some more peeks at the set.  It's really got it all and more with Alma's hip, happenin' flair.  The set also coordinates perfectly with the Cosmo Cricket Mr. Campy patterned papers, used here, that we all had to have.  (Got a bunch in my stash.  Don't you?)  Plus, Alma's gonna have some snappy new buttons and ribbon that will match all of this.  You've gotta make sure that you check back on the 29th!  (She's got a new alphabet too....woohoooo!)

MARYLAND STAMP CONVENTION THIS WEEKEND!

Stamping by the Sea is happening this weekend in Ocean City, Maryland at the Carousel Resort! The show is hosted by Seaside Stampin' Ink and it's going to be FABULOUS!  STARVING ARTISTSTAMPS will be there along with lots of other incredible vendors with TONS of great products to buy and GORGEOUS samples to inspire you.  This will be the first time going for me and I'm looking forward to a little splurge...shhh...don't tell the DH!
