GOIN' TO THE CHAPEL

Here's a little sneak peek for a new set from STORAGE UNITS, INK & MORE!  This little cutie is included in the GOIN' TO THE CHAPEL set that's being released tomorrow.  She's soooo sweet!  I created this window card using the classic circle and scalloped circle Nestabilities dies.  I love that you can put the plain circle together with the scalloped one and cut out a frame in one roll through the machine.  The "tying the knot" paper is from Reminisce and it's got some pretty sparkle to it.  And, look, I even dug out some Prima flowers.  Those things haven't see the light of day in quite a while.

SHIRLEY'S 2 GIRLS

Hey...guess what?!  I applied for and was accepted to a new stamping design team.  It's a brand new company with some fun and unique images called SHIRLEY'S 2 GIRLS.  I'm really excited about getting started.  You really should go on over and check out the stamps.  AND...they'll be adding some more new things soon.  Deidre and Kristine - they are actually Shirley's two girls (get it?!) - have chosen eight other great designers as well.  I've added the team list over on my left sidebar so do click on over to visit them when you have a moment.  There's also a S2G blog and you can find that HERE.  Please check back soon to see what I'll have to show you!

WHACHADOIN' WEDNESDAY CHALLENGE #25 - Color Challenge

This week's Whachadoin' Wednesday challenge from STORAGE UNITS, INK & MORE! is to create a card using RED, WHITE, and BLACK as your main color scheme.  Well, some pink snuck/sneaked into mine...

My card uses the SWEET THINGS set that was released on January 1st.  It's got all of the perfect little yummy treats that you'd need for great Valentine's cards.  I used my Copics for the coloring and the textured paper is by Coredinations - also from SUINK.  See what happens when you emboss it?  That lighter color (in this case gray) shows through!  It's so cool and such a great feature on top of this being such high quality cardstock.  I added some KI Memories ribbon - from back when they made more than just printed ribbons (ick) and I used one of the Spellbinders Tag dies for my little sentiment tag.

TCP TUESDAY #43 - SKETCH CHALLENGE

Happy Tuesday, Bloggers!  It's my turn again with the TCP Tuesday Challenge so that means that it's sketch time.  Grab your CAT'S PAJAMAS stamps and play along, won't ya?!

My card uses stamps from the LOVING MEW set...a purr-fectly great Valentine's set.  AND...it's on sale right now as part of the Kitty Kat Pack.  What a deal!  I also broke out the colored pencils and Gamsol.  I hadn't used those in a while but I knew I wanted to use Kraft paper to offset the bright patterned paper that I had chosen.  And I really like to look of the pencils on Kraft.  I drew in the clouds and then swirled on a few pencil colors - blending as I went - to give them some depth.  And then I didn't want to cover up this loverly K&Company paper so I added my "ribbon strip" using vellum.  The sketch has three little brads or embellishments on the right but remember that you can use whatever and how ever many you think you need.  I know that Toni also turned the sketch vertically and I really liked that look too.

ROSE, I LOVE YOU

This sweet, sweet flower is Rose.  She's just sooo pretty!  I highlighter her with patterned papers from the Basic Grey Bittersweet 6x6 pad and this great scalloped velvet ribbon by Creative Imaginations.  I dug around in the button jar to add a couple of doo-dads too.  The sentiment is from the ALL ABOUT LOVE sentiment set.

I'M SWEET ON YOU

Love piggies!  Cute, cute, cute...pigs in love...ha ha ha.  I colored using the Copics, as usual, but then I used a piece of old sock to "dab" on some Copic Blending Solution to give the pigs some texture. (Click on the photo to get a closer view.)  I love that little trick.  The great papers and ribbon are all by American Crafts.  I'm really into their bold colors.  I also liked the the little Dew Drops at the top of the oval layer sort of mimic the dotted ribbon.  The sentiment is from the SWEET ON YOU sentiment/image set.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

Here's one more new WHIPPER SNAPPER DESIGNS card for the week.  I love this one!  It's like the movie, Barnyard, with the big chicken driving his truck down the dusty road.  (Can you tell we watch a lot of animated movies around here?  The little boy loves them and, know what, I do too!)  And I can just hear "on the road again...Just can't wait to get on the road again..." playing on the radio.  This is another ANNA illustration.  I'm really happy with the way the coloring turned out on this.  I just kept adding color and layering and blending.  It's way more time consuming, that's for sure.  But I like that the truck looks dusty and old - especially the paint and the grill and bumper.  Now the window, that's an area that I need some work on.  I'm not too good at "realistic" yet...I'll keep trying!

ALAN AND ANNA FEED THE CHICKENS

I mentioned some more new WHIPPER SNAPPER images in my post yesterday.  Here are two more cards for ya.  So, ya know, Anna and her sweetie, Alan, have a farm down there in Texas and they just have oodles of chickens.  That's slightly scary to me, actually.  When I was in high school we used to build our homecoming floats at this girls house and she lived next to a small farm.  They always had these really mean chickens peckin' around and they would chase after you.  Weird, huh?  But, I digress...

HOW ABOUT A PECK?

For some reason I thought that Anna had named these two characters after her and Alan.  This would be Alan, obviously.  He's out feedin' the birds...wondering if Anna will give him a little peck when he comes back to the house...hee hee.  I remembered that I had my Cuttlebug embossing folders - love them but always forget that I have them! - and used that on the background.  The striped paper is from the Go Green DCWV pad and this neat wide ribbon is by Doodlebug.  You can find this stamp, FARM BOY here.  The sentiment is computer generated.

HOW YA BEEN, HEN?

And I think this little gal is Anna.  She's the cutest!  She's holding one of those frilly little chickens that they have down on the farm.  I chose my colors after I chose this great background paper.  It's by Tinkering Ink and I just loved the big bright pink flowers and bright green background.  Again, I dug out a Cuttlebug embossing folder for texture and bordered that piece with white scallops using my SU! scalloped edge punch.  This great pink on green polka-dotted ribbon finished it off perfectly.  You can find this stamp - aptly named, FARM GIRL here.  The sentiment is computer generated.

DOODLEFACTORY - VALENTINES REMIX

Have you started on your Valentines yet?  Whacha waitin' for?  What am I talkin' about - I have to admit that I am THE worst card giver.  I make a ton of cards but I hoard them!  Does this surprise anyone out there?

Anyway, if you haven't chosen your Valentine's stamps yet you should head over to STARVING ARTISTSTAMPS and look at the DOODLEFACTORY sets.  I've featured all of the new stamps in this post HERE.  Today I have two cards for you that use the VALENTINE'S REMIX set - lots of fun big eyed creatures and some flowers and doodads too - and the sentiments for both cards are included in the VALENTINE SENTIMENT set.  I love the quirky, silly sentiments that are almost always included in the sentiment sets at Starving Artistamps.  They're right up my alley!  PLUS - don't forget that I have a coupon code right there in my right sidebar column....yup...10% off just for you! 

OWL ALWAYS LOVE YOU

 

The caption for this has me envisioning an owl hoot sounding version of the Dolly Parton favorite.  Can ya hear it in your head?  Uh....no?  K - movin' right along...the eyes on this owl do remind of the little squirrel in the kids movie, Over The Hedge.  Remember - "I want the cookie."  He's very sweet and who wouldn't want to be his Valentine.  The great patterned paper here is from a new Valentine's pad by K&Co.  Actually, these are opposite sides of the same sheet but the pad is full of great pages.

YOU DRIVE ME BANANAS

This little guy's name is Malbec.  He's swinging his way into your heart.  I had the banana paper by DaisyD's in my stash from when the sock monkey craze was happening.  Do you remember it?  It was a quick flash - you know, those stamps that I HAD TO HAVE!  I'm sure I'll get around to using those stamps someday but for now Malbec will do. 

JUST CHICK'N IN!

In my mind - thinking back to older posts - I feel like I use "check it out" a lot.  Since I'm posting a collection of CHICKEN cards today I thought I'd treat you to the little pun....aren't ya glad I explained all of that?

All of the images on these cards are from WHIPPER SNAPPER DESIGNS - newly released this week and drawn by the wonderful Anna Wight.  These are single images instead of the ones that are included in her unmounted sets.  I'll share the chicken cards today and then show ya some more in the next few days.

BATMAN CHICKEN

How funny is this guy?!  Ha ha ha...just his expression cracks me up.  He's all bewildered - or I could say "flabergasted".  (That's the word that my 8 year old sprung on me last night while describing how his reading class felt after his reading partner threw up all over his desk!  Ewwww)  You can find this stamp, BATMAN CHICKEN, HERE.

FRIED CHICKEN

Anna created this fun little island scene all for one stamp.  I was just coloring away when the "sentiment" hit me.  Of course, I'm my own best audience at all times!  Look how red the poor "fried" chicken is?  You can find this stamp, CHICKEN VACATION, HERE.  The sentiment is computer generated.

CARRIE UNDERCHICKEN

And what could be better than a singing chicken?  First, let me explain that I don't know anything about chickens.  What color are chickens supposed to be?  Ehhh...whatever...my chicken is red with black polka-dots.  I was racking my brain for a song that she could be singing and "Before He Cheats" popped into my head.  I love that song!  It's all too funny...at least to me...hee hee.  I hand drew in the harlequin floor and the floral wallpaper to set her little karaoke scene.  You can find this stamp, CHICKEN STRINGS, HERE.  Again, the sentiment is computer generated.
