SNOWY PENGUIN

The Splitcoast Dirty Dozen - both past and present - participated in another challenge this month.  The criteria this time was to use a penguin image, to include 'ice' (sparkles), and to NOT use blue on your card.  I love how varied and gorgeous all of the artwork is!  You can go to the DCP1207 gallery at Splitcoast to view all of the cards.

    I based my card on Alma's Cat's Pajamas Sketch #5.  I'm so behind on my sketches and I hadn't really gotten a chance to stamp due to the holiday rush.  I love stamping so it was definitely a treat to get to sit down and do some today.

A GIFT OF TAGS

I signed up for a challenge where you had to make a set of gift tags for your partner.  My set is going to Jane Bosi and, in turn, I'm receiving a set of really great tags from Vicki Garrett.  How fun!

BLOGGER'S CHALLENGE #24 - WATERCOLOR

     This week's Blogger's Challenge was to either use a watercolor technique or have your central image watercolored.  I decided to combine my watercoloring with one of the new December 2007 Technique Junkie newsletter techniques - Faux Layers. 
    It took four starts to get this card done.  You know....there was a time a while back when people like Julie Ebersole were all about these Fabriano Medioevalis notecards.  Of course, I had to have some too but I've had really terrible luck with them.  This card was no different and I used all four sides of the card...finally settling on this finished image on the fourth try.  To actually use this card I would need to cut it out and apply it to another card base.  That's all logistics though....I'll just go with it for the challenge and worry about the actual card later.
    So as you might have guessed from the name of the technique, there are no actual layers here.  There was much to learn with this technique and I'm sure I'll do some things differently on my next try.  It's pretty cool, though, how it does look like at least a few layers!

    "Watercoloring" can be so widely interpreted.  I can't wait to see how all of the other BC girls decided to tackle this week's challenge....
